Managers of change.

 

All managers, irrespective of their formal title in an organisation, are also change managers.

 

If you are not effectively managing and leading change with your team and your people you are probably doing them a disservice.

 

This doesn't mean that you have to go out and do some post-graduate study in change management (although it wouldn’t hurt). It simply means that you have to be conscious of the fact that change is happening all the time and you need to be conscious of the way you communicate and influence those that are affected by the change. You need to be think about the way in which you deal with resistance. You need to consider how the culture of your team and organisation deals with change.

 

You need to lead change from the front. So, whilst you might not be a change manager, you are always going to be a manager of change.
